Did Vegas really get nothing more out of that deal than Reaves? I thought they got a pick.

The Brassard pickup was a thank you to Rutherford for keeping his word with Vegas regarding Fleury. After last years playoffs there were legit trade offers for Flower but GMJR kept his word to McPhee about exposing him in the expansion draft (and his word about including the extra 2nd rounder which was arranged pre trade deadline 2017)

The league loves Brad Marchand. That's why he can do literally everything he wants and faces no or very little consequences for his actions! Tell me another player in the league who gets away with the BS he does? Kadri tried it...look where it got him!

It was Vegas purchasing a pick. That’s all. Building a system with cash and cap space. Very smart move.

I often wonder if he has some dirt on Bettman or something. Near the end of the regular season he crosschecked Andrew Macdonald from the Flyers in the face and only got a $5000 fine - no suspension!:

Back in 2007, the Flyers employed a goon by the name of Jesse Boulerice who crosschecked Ryan Kesler in the face and got a 25 game suspension for it (0:37):

Granted, the Boulerice crosscheck above was much worse but the disparity is supplemental discipline in the league is just mind-boggling. Marchand gets away with more than anyone though, including other star/top-line players. I can't figure it out.

Marchand is a product of his environment. The league punished enforcers and rewarded players like Marchand. People are quick to call players like Dustin Brown, Radko Gudas and Matt Martin dirty because they hit hard but Marchand is the worst. The things he does he actually has to connive and think about. I would feel no remorse if someone purposefully ended his career.

Taylor Hall is amazing. His contract is amazing. He was traded. It remains laugh out loud funny. I wouldn’t trade Jake Guentzel for Adam Larsson let alone a legitimate superstar

MAF always had this ability, unfortunately Dan Bylsma wasted a good portion of his career with his dumb ass "zero defense" system.

As far as the Reaves deal goes.... Yeah, I believe McPhee felt he owed a little more. Rutherford always states he likes both sides to feel they got a good deal. Operating with that kind of attitude is beneficial over the long run IMO.

Yes, it's absolutey impossible for Fleury to waive for another team if JR got a trade offer after the season and Fleury was also interested in going there

Totally impossible

You're right....

Fact is, JR was getting calls and he was saying "no thanks" because he had already made "The Pledge" with McPhee

McPhee didn't eat (and pay) 4 Million dollars of Brassards Salary for Reaves an a 4th

A 4th doesn't "cost" 4 million.

Looked like Gudas wasn't even watching what was happening around him, I think total accident. Will be embarrassing if Courts plays though after carrying on like that - he might have been practicing his swan dive......

Marchand should have missed half the season for what he did to Johansson. I guarantee if he misses 40 games, he won't play that way anymore.
